Readers’ Theatre

Related Activities – Also see Attachment 1, Learning Area & Content Standard Alignment

  1. Choose a play based on a book or a story. Read the book or story, analyze it, perform the play, and view the movie, if available. (See Attachment 1 for Read, Listen, View correlations).
  2. For Arts and Literature: Intermediate, choose a story and have students write a play based on the story, adapting plot, characters, etc. for theatrical purposes. For Art and Literature: Primary have students imitate animals, objects or shapes in the presentation, and have them make or borrow costumes and props to use in the presentation.
  3. For Writing and Speaking, both intermediate and primary, have students write a story. Then, have them adapt it to pay format and present it.
