- Students will locate food items in menu, order a simple meal, and determine necessary amount of money needed to purchase a meal

- Calculator
- Real dollar bills
- Choice sheet/picture cards
- Pictorial food worksheets
- Pictorial menus
- Menu from a local restaurant
Group Size: 4-7
Time Required:
Lesson Procedure:
- Week 1
- Practice locating food items and prices on pictorial menu
- Add prices together of various food items from worksheet
- Week 2
- Choose restaurant to dine in and review actual menu from restaurant
- Choose food items and how much money is needed
- Week 3
- Go to restaurant with picture cards and have students order food items
- Pay for meal

- Use a Big Mack switch (communication device) with a prerecorded message on it in order for students to use to order meal at restaurant
- Students can match pictures of food items
- Use picture cards for students who are not able to vocalize their food preferences by showing waiter/waitress
